Catherine ANDRE

Expert

An ecological agricultural engineer, she has been developing her expertise in human/natural environment interactions since 2000 within the public and private sectors (National Forestry Office, Natural Reserves of France/French Office for Biodiversity, consultancy firms). Working since 2012 mainly in Africa and French overseas territories, she was based for four years in Guinea to bring out the best regulatory, scientific and strategic practices to reconcile economic development and biodiversity (COMBO project). Collaboration with NGOs, scientists, government and the private sector has been fundamental. Over the years, her commitments have focused on cohabitation (COHAB Fouta chimpanzee project), and the natural reconquest of spaces (administrator of Rewilding France). Her missions range from the formulation and evaluation of projects (including regulatory files) to the drafting of management plans for natural areas and species (Guinean Plan for the Chimpanzee 2020-30) and the coordination of naturalist inventories. The themes addressed are multiple: forests, aquatic environments, protected and endangered species, ecological continuities, cohabitation or integration of nature in territorial planning. Since 2021, she has been a member of the Commission on Ecosystem Management of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
