Context of the service

The FAO's Office of Evaluation (OED) has entrusted the final evaluation of the project "Action against Desertification in Support of the Implementation of the Great Green Wall Initiative in Sahara and Sahel and South-South Cooperation in African, Caribbean and Pacific Countries" (GCP/INT/157/EC) to an international expert, Dr. Patrick VAN DAMME. SalvaTerra was entrusted with the external quality control of this evaluation.

Services provided

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Evaluation Officer within the OED and the overall responsibility of the Director of the OED, the expert provided comments on the form and content of the final evaluation's preliminary results and the draft final report in order to improve the findings', conclusions' and recommendations' strength. The work was done entirely remotely.

Summary of the service

Quality control of the final evaluation of the project "Action against desertification in support of the implementation of the Great Green Wall in Sahara and Sahel and South-South cooperation in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries" funded by FAO (€25.5 million, 2015-2020): comments on the form and content regarding the preliminary results of the final evaluation in order to improve the results' , conclusions' and recommendations' stregnth.
